This module will introduce you to the concepts of Lean Production and Lean Construction. It will briefly explore the history of Lean production beginning with Toyota and its application to other manufacturing processes and eventually how it is now being applied to construction. This module is based on the work of Gregory A. Howell, one of the founders of the Lean Construction Institute. The reading is from his white paper titled 'What is Lean Construction - 1999'.
